How do I avoid cross contamination with GeoPress® Titanium?

To avoid contamination, use the Spout Cap. If dirty water comes in contact with the Inner Press, wash the Grayl (not the cartridge) with soapy water and rinse thoroughly. Alternatively, dilute contaminants by pressing and agitating water through your GeoPress® Ti Bottle 5-7 times. There are a variety of available methods to avoid cross-contamination during transfer of clean water into your Outer Ti Cup when preparing hot meals. Really depends on the environment you're in at the time you're preparing to prepare hot water. Below are the two most common methods. Method #1. Purify and filter your water, separate your Inner Purifier Press from Outer Ti Cup; then wash your Outer Ti Cup with biodegradable soap. Disperse suds and lightly rinse with a little clean water before filling with clean water and bringing to a boil. Method #2. Purify and filter your water, then separate Inner Purifier Press from Outer Ti Cup. Then dump excess water from Outer Ti Cup and towel dry the inside of the Outer Ti Cup prior to filling with clean water and bringing to a rolling boil.

How do I know when it is time for a new cartridge?

The time it takes to press with your GeoPress® or UltraPress® will gradually increase over time. We recommend replacing the cartridge once the 'press time' reaches approximately 25 seconds (or three years have passed since the first use). Please note that colder water may require longer pressing time and does not necessarily mean the cartridge needs to be replaced.

How does Grayl® filter and purify water?

For the remaining components, hand wash them with warm, soapy water and let them air-dry. To maximize the lifespan of the cartridge, store the unit assembled. With proper care, the cartridge can last up to three years.

"So I love my titanium geopress and coffee press, really simplifies my setup, however I did purchase a titanium bush pot to slide onto the bottom, it fits decently with a carry case on the geopress without rattling too much, I'm just surprised yall don't offer a titanium cup with butterfly handles that snuggly fits to the bottom of the titanium geopress and another that fits the other geopress, having a cup for coffee or for a friend that doesn't take up any more room in my pack would complete this set perfectly!"

Works but no hype from me

"Great idea and it is functional but not like you’ll hope and certainly a let down for both the price and expectation and reputation of Grayl. The new lid is tough to get on and even tougher to get off - bent off the handle trying. So I just set the lid on loosely. Twisting the press stem apart is also difficult without tools. But it’s all functional, and I made good coffee with it. Bought without a second guess cause Grayl has been great with quality on everything I’ve bought, but I’ll be more cautious going forward, as this needed more user testing and feedback."

"Thi is my 2nd grayl geopress titanium. I use everyday, now with the french coffee press is much better. For hiking is the best option. Coffee in the morning with the simplicity of the press there no competition for the Gray. BUT Grayl after see the bundle with other products you should include the pouch for store the Coffee press. To many losse parts can be lost. I make another order for purchase the pouch."

When I attach my filter to the bottom of the drinking bottle, it appears to be a minor gap. I twist it until it locks, but I can still see daylight. Is that normal?: The critical seal is the smaller "red o-ring" on the topside of the cartridge. should not be possible for light to pass-thru the contact area between the cartridge and the inside edge of the titanium Inner Press.
